About Us
The Vintage Baking Company was created by husband and wife team Jim and Lisa Somerville that opened in July 2010. They envisioned a small grab n' go bakery and wine shop that used high quality ingredients and local producers where local folks could get high quality baked goods, yummy sandwiches, great cheeses, and affordable wine. They wanted to bring to the valley a type of place we grew up going to, where folks were friendly and the boxes were tied with that red and white string. Places where you remember the goodies 20 years down the road. We are constanlty learning about our customers and craft, always keeping in mind the spirit of the local producers. Whether you are joining us on a weekend day or during the week, we're always baking up the finest treats, and looking forward to seeing familiar faces. Jim Somerville has been living in the Mt Washington Valley for over 15 years. Many folks around town know him from Tuckerman's Tavern in Intervale, where he was a bartender for 8 years. It was at the Inn at Thorn Hill where he discovered his passion for wine. It was there he ws able to study under inn owner Jim Cooper and manage the wine cellar. Jim became NH's fourth Certified Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers in January 2009. Lisa Somerville is an award winning pastry chef that has been working in valley hotels and restaurants since 2003. From the historic Eagle Mountain House to the grand Mount Washington Hotel, she has developed a wide range of baking skills and techniques. Her desserts have been described as "not just visually whimsical but delicious and comforting". She was award Chef of the Year in 2006 by the ACF White Mtns of NH.
